World Wildlife Day

02/03/2026

On this World Wildlife Day (March 3), we focus on the fundamental role that medicinal and aromatic plants play in our lives: preserving health, natural heritage, and livelihoods.

We all depend on wildlife and the resources derived from biodiversity to meet our needs, from food and fuel to medicine, housing, and clothing. Therefore, it is everyone's responsibility to ensure that ecosystems can thrive and that species of flora and fauna can exist for future generations.

Some facts to consider:

  • Around 50,000 wild species of animals and plants meet the needs of thousands of people worldwide.
  • Around 20% of the plants used globally for medicinal and aromatic purposes are considered endangered due to overexploitation, habitat loss, climate change, and unregulated or illegal trade.
  • One in five people depends on wild plants, algae, and fungi for food and income.
  • In developing countries, 70%-95% of the population relies on traditional medicine for primary healthcare.

Protecting nature also means consuming responsibly. That's why at Re-uz, we work with reusable solutions, helping to reduce waste, care for ecosystems, and preserve the natural resources that sustain our health and our planet.
